MD HHAs & PCAs: Tell Our Legislators “YES to Direct Employee, NO to 1099 Contractor!”
It’s one of the oldest tricks in the books. For decades, home care agencies in Maryland have been stealing from home care workers by illegally classifying caregivers as 1099 contractors instead of the W-2 employees.
This illegal misclassification robs workers of benefits such as:
Social Security contributions
Payroll tax contributions
Overtime pay
Minimum wages
Paid Sick Leave
Workers’ Compensation and more!
THIS MUST END! Tell the Maryland legislature to pass HB 39/SB 197, the Homecare Worker Rights Act of 2024. Let’s end this abuse once and for all and demand that agencies hire ALL Maryland HHAs & PCAs as direct employees so we get the wages, benefits, and protections we deserve.
